An evening with legends

MESMERISING Pandit Birju Maharaj will perform with Ustad Zakir Hussain in Bangalore on February 10

Premaanjali Educational Trust, a registered charitable organisation, is engaged in several activities focused around the homeless, destitute, and needy children. In order to raise funds for the trust, Premaanjali has been organising cultural festivals. In 2004, the Trust featured a jugalbandi of musical titans Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna.

This fourth festival will bring to Bangalore the Kathak exponent Birju Maharaj and his ensemble along with tabla virtuoso Ustad Zakir Hussain.

Ask Mr. Balakrishna Hegde how they manage to bring such big stars and pat comes the reply: "We try for the best and we see that we get them." He also says that how other auditoriums in Bangalore cannot hold as much as the Koramangala Indoor Stadium can and makes the tickets much cheaper and thereby making it accessible to the common man.
