THE INTERNATIONAL Tamil Film Academy (ITFA) in association with Seventh Channel has organised an International Film Festival of Tamil Nadu 2004 (IFFT) beginning in Chennai today.
This is the first competitive festival to be held in Chennai and has nearly 50 films from 30 countries. As many as 25 films are to be shown at two venues Pilot, the main venue and Sathyam where six films will be screened in the morning on Saturday and Sunday, three each during the five days. The CMD of Seventh Channel and festival director Manikkam Narayanan says the festival is going to be a permanent affair.
"The year's festival theme is `Togetherness.' This was chosen with the idea of underlining harmony in the context of violence and tension the world is going through," he explains.
