Music fest

THE TYAGARAJA Festival Committee, Tirupati, has announced that the 61st music festival would be conducted for a period of 10 days from July 18.

Ajeya Kallam, who took over as the executive officer of TTD recently, has been elected president of the festival committee. M. Krishnaswami, chairman of the Thyagaraja Trust, welcomed the new president. The practice of the executive officer of TTD being chosen as president of the festival committee has been followed for the past 60 years, he said. K. V. Ranganathan, secretary, proposed a vote of thanks and said a mini-festival, exclusively for nadaswaram, would precede the main festival, for four days.
