Nine Kukis killed

GUWAHATI Nov. 17. As Karbi-Kuki clashes continued in the Karbi Anglong district of Assam, nine bodies were recovered by police today. According to reports, the nine, all Kukis, were murdered by the `anti-talks' faction of the United People's Democratic Solidarity (UPDS), a Karbi militant group, in two separate incidents in remote villages in the Sinhasan hills area.

The first incident took place on the night of November 14. Three men, two women and two girls were killed at Ganjam village, while 70 Kuki houses were torched.

In the second incident at Dihanglang village, two women were killed last night. The Army was deployed recently in the district. Reinforcements were rushed to the two villages today.
