Sonia to launch election campaign from Mizoram

NEW DELHI NOV. 11. The Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, will launch the party campaign for the Assembly elections to five States on November 17, with a tour to Mizoram where polling is scheduled three days later.

Ms. Gandhi would then hold election rallies in Chhattisgarh on November 18, before going to the other States, the party spokesperson, Anand Sharma, announced today. The party has decided to draft the service of party Chief Ministers from Punjab, Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh and senior leaders from Jammu and Kashmir for campaigning. Although the Congress president has been holding public meetings in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi, Ms. Gandhi's rallies this time would be the first after the start of campaigning period that ends on November 29.
