`PM's picture being covered on hoardings'

JAIPUR NOV. 7. The pictures of the Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, on national highways in poll-bound Rajasthan are being "covered", the National Highways Authority of India has informed the Election Commission.

The NHAI told the State Chief Electoral Officer, Lalit Kothari, that directives had been issued to cover the pictures and slogans on the hoardings "on a top priority basis'' by today.

The Commission had asked for the removal of the hoardings saying they violated the model code of conduct.

The directive was issued following a complaint by the Congress.

The Commission also directed the removal of hoardings that listed the achievements of the Congress-led State Government after the BJP filed a complaint in this regard. — UNI
