Only talks can solve Kashmir issue: Pak. leader
SAHARANPUR (U.P.)
JULY 16.
Pakistan's Jamiat-Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader, Fazal-ur Rahman, today said that dialogue was the only way to solve the Kashmir issue and made it clear that there was no room for terrorism in Islam. At the same time, the pro-Taliban leader said what was happening in Kashmir was not terrorism but a ``struggle for independence.''
The issue could be resolved through dialogue only and the religious and political leadership of the two countries should help find a solution, Mr. Rahman, told reporters.
Mr. Rahman, who is in India on the invitation of the Jamiat-Ulema-Hind visited the Darul-Uloom University in Deoband near here and expressed happiness over the present relationship between India and Pakistan. ``It is much better than in the past.''
Maintaining that Islam did not have space for terrorism, Mr. Rahman said all the religious institutes of Islam, including the Madrassas, were not connected with militancy.
