The Bhagamandala-Aiyyangeri-Napoklu Road has been submerged. The Sangama bridge is flooded affecting the movement of people and vehicles. The bathing ghat at the Sangama in Bhagamandala is almost under water. A vast area under paddy nearby is under water. News that some schools in Bhagamandala and Hoddur, near Murnad, had declared a holiday could not be confirmed. The heads of schools have been instructed to announce holidays at their discretion. The Cauvery is flowing close to the level of the bridge at Betri, 22 km. from here. At Karadigodu, near Siddapur, it is rising steadily, and 22 houses in the low-lying areas are facing the threat of submergence. The district administration has cautioned the people to move to safer areas in the event of floods. The Cauvery waters have almost touched the road level at Kottamudi, Hoddur, Bolibane, Balamuri, and Dubare areas. Water from Kadnur river, near Virajpet, has also entered paddy fields. Reports of tree fall have come in from several places. The rainfall data in Talacauvery this year has exceeded that of last year's in the same period by at least seven inches (177.8 mm.). Bhagamandala recorded 105.4 mm. rainfall in the past 24 hours (from 8 a.m. on July 15 till 8 a.m. on July 16). Napoklu town in Madikeri taluk received 88 mm. of rainfall, Madikeri taluk 79.4 mm., Virajpet taluk 68.2 mm., and Somwarpet taluk, which normally receives less rainfall than the other two taluks, recorded 24.2 mm. The Harangi Reservoir level increased on Wednesday. It stood at 2,828 ft. as against the full level of 2,859 ft. The level in the same period last year was 2,843.10 ft. The inflow on Wednesday also increased to 1,477 cusecs.
