Speaking to The Hindu, the State Medicinal Plant Board member, Alexander Zacharias, pointed out that Wayanad and the hilly areas of Kozhikode and Malappuram districts were the homeland of many of these species. The Swaminathan Commission had recommended to the State Government the introduction of a Bio Valley Project for the conservation of these plants. A request had been made to the State Government for assistance in implementing these suggestions. Those interested in participating in the seminar have been requested to intimate their names, details of land, etc. to the convener, Oushadha Sasya Krishi Vikasana Seminar, at the Chavara Cultural Centre, Amalapuri, Kozhikode.
