Mob attacks police picket

AHMEDABAD JULY 10. Police fired three rounds in the air in Dani Limda locality in old Ahmedabad city this morning to disperse a mob, which allegedly attacked a State Reserve Police picket. According to the complainant, Dashrath Solanki, a SRP constable, some persons were allegedly consuming liquor last night on the road — in violation of the prohibition law — which was prevented by the police. This angered them and about 50 persons armed with lathis and other weapons attacked the picket.

At least two SRP personnel were injured forcing the police to open fire in the air. No one was injured in the firing nor was anyone arrested in this connection.
