According to sources here, cases under Sections 9 (attempt to poach) and 52 (abetting poaching) were also registered against Godson and Justin. A forester, who heard gun shots in the forest at lower Kodayar on Monday, informed the District Forest Officer I. Anwar Deen, who rushed to the spot and recovered about 1.5 kg of semi-cooked meat, later confirmed by veterinarians as sambar flesh. Tyre marks at the scene of offence revealed that a group of persons entered the forest in a jeep. The officials traced the jeep and it's owner. The owner hailed from Kerala was said to have told the officials that he sold the vehicle about a decade ago, but could not recall to whom it was sold. A team under the DFO rushed to Tirunelveli and found that Godson drove a Mahendra jeep along with Dev, Justin and two others. The team confiscated the jeep.
Kumaradhas denial
But Mr. Kumaradhas denied that his son was involved in the poaching incident. He said Dev's name was "dragged into the incident" by the officials.
