Six women named in Indian team

KOLKATA JULY 10. India will send a 12-member gymnastics team to the 37th World championship to be held at Anaheim (near California) in the U.S. from August 16 to 24.

A six-member women's squad was named here at the SAI, Eastern Centre, by the Gymnastics Federation of India. It comprises Tumpa Debnath (Andhra Pradesh), Sundari Mondal (Railways), Rupali Haldar (Bengal), Rohika (Punjab), Jhuma Bag and Amrita Sinha (both Bengal), the last two making their debut.

As many as 15 girls, who did well in the last National held at Kakinada in Bengal, attended the camp at SAI (Eastern Centre) from June 16 under the supervision of coach Jai Prakash Chakraborty. The final selection trial was held before the GFI secretary.
