Addressing a press conference here today, V. Srinivasan, CEO, DishnetDSL, said for high-end customers, the saving on equipment (routers and switches) could be between Rs. 2 lakhs and Rs. 4 lakhs. Customers needed to invest only on `media converter', costing about Rs 15,000, he said. The technology would reduce the lead-time to upgrade bandwidth for customers to less than 15 minutes from 6-8 weeks earlier, and this could be done remotely. The saving from the new technology for the company would be passed on to the customers. The new technology would also provide new revenue-generating services such as bandwidth-on-demand, Ethernet-leased lines of 5 Mbps or 10 Mbps and virtual private network. The company hoped to sell about 300 Mpbs in 18 months, earning a revenue of about Rs. 60 crores.
