WASHINGTON: Oprah Winfrey's four-city women's empowerment tour, Live Your Best Life, has run into rough seas. Conceived as an impetus to woman power, the tour has not impressed Hollywood loyalists much. "It is supposed to be this thing for helping poor women but they are charging everyone $185 a head to get in. You'd think she was rich enough to just let people come," one observer said. However, a representative for Winfrey, who just got back after conducting seminars in Philadelphia, Tampa, Seattle and St. Louis, went on the defensive and said they were never touted as being for the underprivileged and were "open to everyone". Women who had gathered to assimilate life truths from the veteran's mouth were briefed about her modest Mississippi beginnings and her "vision of a higher calling" for her life. ANI
