PDP activist shot dead

SRINAGAR JULY 9. Mohammad Abdullah, a senior activist of the ruling People's Democratic Party and a retired police inspector, and Ghulam Hassan, an assistant sub-inspector of police were shot dead by militants in separate incidents in Anantnag district of south Kashmir, police said today. Abdullah was fired at point-blank range near his residence at Chancer village last night. Hassan was abducted last night and his bullet-ridden body was recovered today near Yaripora. — PTI
