According to the Bichkunda CI, Maqbool Ahmed, the police received information that the burnt body was lying on the roadside at Shantapur. The victim was apparently murdered elsewhere and his body dumped in the area and set afire. The police said the victim could be a Muslim. The police are trying to establish the identity of the victim. A search was launched to find out about any missing person in the police station limits. The body was shifted to Banswada hospital pending a post-mortem.
Watchman found killed
A watchman was found murdered by unidentified assailants on the premises of the post office at the Sriramsagar project in Pochampad under the Balkonda police station limits in the early hours of today. According to reports, Degam Chinnaiah, was employed as watchman of the sub post office located in the Sriramsagar project at Pochampad. As usual, he came to join the duty at 4 p.m. yesterday. After the office hour, he closed the office and locked the doors before going to sleep in the backyard of the post office. In the early hours of today, some unidentified persons gained entry into the post office and hit the watchman with a stone. The victim collapsed in a pool of blood and died on the spot. The culprits then ransacked the post office and decamped with Rs. 5,000 kept in the almirah. The Balkonda SI, Laxmikanth Reddy, rushed to the spot on receiving information about the murder. The murder came to light after a woman employee came to the sub- post office this morning. The Armoor DSP, Vishwanatham and Circle Inspector, Anant Reddy, along with the CLUES team visited the scene of offence. The body was shifted to Armoor civil hospital pending a post-mortem. A murder for gain case was registered in the Balkonda police station. It may be mentioned that the postmaster and his wife of the same post office were killed last year by unknown culprits.
