The road communication between sub divisional headquarters Biraul and flood-affected Kusheswar Sthan remained snapped for the second day today as the rising water level of Kosi river submerged the main road linking the two towns in many stretches, official reports here said. A flood control room had been set up at the divisional headquarters at Darbhanga to monitor the situation, the reports said adding that the control room would be manned by a magistrate and officers from various departments concerned with flood, control, rescue and relief to affected people. Reports from Darbhanga said the Kosi river spilled over at several points in Kusheswar Sthan and submerged 15 villages in the area thus raising the number of toal affected villages in the district to 39. Following incessant rain in the catchment areas, besides Kosi, water levels of other North Bihar rivers, including Bagmoti and Kamla also recorded a steady rise threatening more areas under human habitation and standing crops in Darbhanga, Madhibani and Muzaffarpur districts, reports added. Meanwhile, traffic along the National Highway 77 had been restored as the flood water receded in the stretch of the highway near Muzaffarpur, official reports said. - UNI
