`Centre discriminating against Cong. CMs'

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI JUNE 27. The Congress today accused the BJP-led NDA Government of ``deliberately discriminating'' against the party Chief Ministers whenever they sought the mandatory Central clearance for foreign visits.

Critical of the ``brazenly partisan manner'' in which such applications of Congress Chief Ministers were treated even as the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Mayawati, was allowed to visit Disneyland, the party's chief spokesman, S. Jaipal Reddy, said the matter would be raised in Parliament.

Describing it as a ``wanton abuse of federal power'', Mr. Reddy said after denying the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Digvijay Singh, permission to go to Canada, the Centre had inordinately delayed a decision on a similar application made by the Rajasthan Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot. This is an affront to the office of Chief Minister, he said.
