Hunt on for ULFA militants

By Our Special Correspondent

GUWAHATI JUNE 27. The combing operations launched by the Unified Command three days ago to nab a batch of 30 or so ULFA militants which recently entered Upper Assam from Myanmar are still continuing.

The militants have split into three groups and spread out to Silapathar, Dumduma and Lekhapani. But from intercepts it appears they have not been able to escape. The security forces are expected to engage them shortly.

Lt. Gen. Mohinder Singh, GOC of the Tezpur-based 4 Corps, told this to mediapersons at Tamulpur today after a function at which 30 militants, including three women, laid down their arms. Nineteen of them belonged to the ULFA and 11 to the NDFB.
