Letters to the Editor
Sir, The BJP has indicated that it is serious in settling the Ayodhya issue by agreeing to include the VHP in the talks. Similarly, the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board will also be forced to include a committee comprising the Shahi Imam. I think this signals the end of the light of hope for an early out-of-court settlement. These too many cooks with their own extreme stances and political and selfish interests will spoil the broth. This will spoil a venture by the Kanchi Acharya and others to bring secularism back to the nation's soul.
Sandeep,
Sir, While welcoming the efforts of the Kanchi Acharya to settle the Ayodhya tangle, the views of Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamy of Pejawar Math, Udipi, should also be taken into account. He has suggested that other Hindu organisations, religious heads, sants and the VHP should be associated in the talks between the Kanchi Acharya and the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board.
Ambady Padmanabhan,
