Rupee makes further headway

MUMBAI JUNE 19. The rupee wiped out its early losses against the dollar here today on robust foreign fund inflows and rallied to end with further gains over the previous close.

The rupee resumed the day sharply weak at 46.62/63 a dollar against yesterday's close of 46.58/59 on a technical downward correction. However, the Indian currency rallied towards the fag end and closed at 46.55/57 against 46.58/59.

The Reserve Bank of India fixed the reference rate for the U.S. currency at Rs. 46.5800 and for the single European unit at Rs. 54.1700.
