Laos PM visits RTA office

HYDERABAD June 18. The Prime Minister of the Laos People's Democratic Republic, Bounnyang Vorachit, on Wednesday appreciated the efforts being made by the State Government to usher in e-governance in the State.

Mr Vorachit visited the RTA office at Khairatabad to acquaint himself with computerisation of the Transport Department. Accompanied by the Minister for Commercial Taxes, K Vijayarama Rao, the Transport Commissioner, A Giridhar, and other senior officials, Mr Vorachit went round the counters, server room and camera room and inquired about the services being offered to the people.

The visiting dignitary was given a driving licence prepared in his honour, according to a press release.

Mr. Vorachith also visited the Hi-Tec City and the premier Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology. He was briefed on the plans of the State Government to extend Information Technology services by Ajay Sawhney, Secretary, Information Technology.

The Commercial Taxes Minister, K. Vijayarama Rao, accompanied the Laos Prime Minister.

Banquet hosted

The Governor, Surjit Singh Barnala, hosted a banquet at the Raj Bhavan in honour of Mr. Vorachith here on Wednesday.

The Chief Justice of the A.P. High Court, Devender Gupta, Ministers K. Vijayarama Rao and V. Shobanadreeswara Rao, the Director of the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Lalji Singh, and the Director-General of ICRISAT, William D. Dar, were present, a press release said.
