According to Sangeeta Sehgal, who is based here as the official representative of IDEA for India, the organisation provides the opportunity of accessing the American educational system through scholarships (board and lodge included) or partial scholarships to begin or continue university careers. ``IDEA has already opened the inscription to its University Athletic Scholarships Program (UASP)-2003. The last date for submission of applications for this scholarship is June 30,'' said Sehgal in a statement. Every year IDEA organises training sessions in different countries for applicants to prepare for UASP in July. The selected students travel to the US, where they are observed by coaches from more than 70 universities. It is in this `showcase' the coaches decide the amount of scholarships they will assign to each participant. Once selected, students will in exchange commit to representing their respective university teams at competitive tournaments. For UASP, male and female candidates in the 16-26 age group are eligible, while for the Academic Scholarship Programme the applicants should be in the 17-26 age group. Further details can be had from Sehgal, `Aastha', Door No. 50-117-17/2/1, Seethammadhara N.E., Visakhapatnam-530013 (Tel. 2535361 or 98493-35954). e-mail: india@ internationaldoorway.org website: internationaldoorway.org
