Corpn. blamed for failure to check epidemics

By Our Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM June 18. The KPCC president, K. Muraleedharan, has accused the city corporation of failing to support the Government move to check the spread of epidemics in the city.

Inaugurating a dharna conducted by UDF councillors in front of the Corporation office on Tuesday, he said the Corporation had ignored the warning issued by the Health department on the spread of epidemic diseases.

He said the failure to tackle the mosquito menace and the stray dog population had raised the spectre of a public health hazard.

Mr.Muraleedharan warned that the UDF would be forced to take up a grassroots level agitation if the Corporation continued to turn a blind eye to the problem.

The DCC president, Peethambara Kurup, presided over the dharna. V.S.Sivakumar, MP, the former MP, Thalekunnil Basheer, Palode Ravi, the UDF council party leader, Maheswaran Nair, the DCC leaders, Eby George and M.S.Surendran, and the CMP parliamentary party leader, M.P.Saju, also spoke.
