CM rapped for `frivolousness'

By Our Special Correspondent

HUBLI June 18. B.S. Yediyurappa, BJP MLC, today criticised the Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, for savouring a "benne dosa'' in a Bangalore hotel, "unmindful" of the plight of the people in drought-affected areas. Addressing presspersons here today, he said it was strange that the Chief Minister chose to "put in a performance" at a hotel, and "plan for the next hotel visit", even as the Government had turned a blind eye to the havoc caused by drought. Mr. Yediyurappa alleged that the Chief Secretary, B.S. Patil, visited Madikeri a day before an official review to play golf. The review was only an alibi for the visit. He said the Chief Secretary should not have briefed presspersons about the deliberations when two ministers were present. He took exception to the recent circular reportedly issued by the Chief Secretary to keep the media away from review meetings.
