He hit 119 off 121 balls in the tourist's 285 for nine off its 50 overs, though the English county benefited from more weak bowling to make a real fight of it. Carlisle followed up first-class centuries against Worcestershire and Middlesex as the tourist posted a healthy total. Zimbabwe made a dreadful start to its innings as Simon Francis removed both openers in an excellent new ball spell but Grant Flower (29) helped Carlisle add 50 to steady the innings. Carlisle was ably supported by Stuart Matsikenyeri, who hit a valiant 66 off 62 balls as they put on 134 for the fifth wicket. Aside from Zimbabwean skipper Heath Streak, the rest of the tourist attack looked weak and Somerset went into the final over requiring 11 to win. However, once Ian Blackwell was run out for 30, the Zimbabweans could celebrate a rare victory. Brief scores: Zimbabwe 285 for nine (S. Carlisle 119, S. Matsikenyeri 66, G. Flower 29, S. Francis two for 56, P. Jones two for 40) bt Somerset 282 for seven (P. Bowler 93, J. Bryant 27, K. Dutch 93, I. Blackwell 30.) AFP
