DGP calls for community oriented policing

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM June 14. The Director General of Police, Hormese Tharakan, today gave a call for community oriented policing and said that human rights would be accorded top priority by the police.

Inaugurating the public contact programme mooted by the Federation of Resident's Association Thiruvananthapuram (FRAT), Mr. Tharakan, said that police was not meant to be an oppressive instrument of the State but one which provided service and security to the people.
