Student robbed of cash, gold ring

BANGALORE JUNE 14. Four persons robbed a student of Rs.100 in cash and a gold ring in Madivala police station limits on Friday night.

According to police, Jnana Prakash, a resident of Madivala, was returning home after attending computer classes in Jayanagar. He parked his two-wheeler by the roadside near Madivala checkpost around 9 p.m. to answer nature's call.

The miscreants, who came in an autorickshaw, threatened the student and took away the cash and gold ring.

The Madivala police have taken up a case of robbery. Police suspect that the same gang might have later robbed Abraham Kurien, a ceramic tiles merchant, of Rs.70,000 in cash in J.P.Nagar police station limits.

Succumbs to injuries

Manjunath (22) of Shivashankar Block in Hebbal, who suffered severe injuries after he was assaulted by his friends on Thursday, died at a private hospital on Friday night.

Police said that Jagadish and others had allegedly attacked Manjunath with knives and clubs following a quarrel over a cigarette. Police have arrested Jagadish and taken up a case of murder.

Four arrested

The Fraser Town police arrested four persons who had allegedly attempted to murder Sait (61) of Nagappa Garden on June 11 due to old enmity.

The names of the arrested persons were given as Naga alias Joseph (28), Thomas alias Kumar (22), Muniyappa alias Rajesh (22), and Annayappa alias Koli (22).

Police said the accused were involved in two cases of attempt to murder earlier and were absconding since January.

Held for theft

The Commercial Street police arrested Harish (20) of Kavalbyrasandra on a charge of stealing a bag containing Rs. 2,000 in cash, National Saving Certificates worth Rs. 15,000, and credit cards.

The accused had allegedly stolen the bag belonging to Kalavathi, a senior BSNL official, from Ulsoor Telephone Exchange on June 12, police said.

Ends life

Sumalatha (19) committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her house at L.N.Pura in Srirampura police station limits on Friday night. The reason for the suicide is not known, police said.

Student returns home

A dental college student alleged to have been kidnapped on Friday, returned home in HSR Layout, Koramangala on Saturday night.

Police said Joli Vergese, who was not happy with the stubborn attitude of her father, had stayed in a friend's house, only to make her parents realise their "folly." But she herself made a call today and was brought home by her father.

The family had lodged a case of kidnapping with the Madivala police.
