ABVP protest against engg. college fee

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD June 14. The Bhagyanagar unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organised a rasta roko near Kothi Women's College junction protesting against fixing a common fee of Rs.22,000 in engineering colleges, here on Saturday.

The activists also set fire to an effigy of the State Government. The ABVP State secretary, K.Sudhakar, addressing a meeting, said that the GO No.32, 33, 34 issued by the State Government was detrimental to the interests of students and demanded their withdrawal. The State Government was renouncing its social responsibility and confining education only to the rich.

The ABVP appealed to the Government to continue the existing fee structure and said that the new decision of the Government would make merit meaningless.

ABVP city secretary, R.Shashidhar, and other leaders such as Praveen, Balaraju, Naresh, Janardhan, Srikant, Gopi, Subhash Chandrabose, Sagar and Ramakanth participated in the protest programme.
