International meet on conservation of lakes

HYDERABAD June 14. The Union Minister for Urban Development, Ananth Kumar, is expected to chair the inaugural session of the three-day international workshop on `Urban lakes-conservation and management' organised by the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) on June 16.

The Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, will inaugurate the workshop to be attended by national and international experts, heads of various Central and State Government departments. The workshop will evolve strategies on lake management.

Delegates from the US, UK, Japan, Switzerland, Canada, Mexico, Singapore, Philippines and Senegal are participating in the three-day deliberations. Some of them have already arrived in city.

Among the VIPs expected to attend are the Union Minister of State for Railways, Bandaru Dattatreya, the Member (Water Resources), Planning Commission, Sompal and the Chairman, World Water Institute, Pune, Anna Hazare.
