Train derailment averted

Nagpur June 14. A major train derailment was averted today when alert villagers stopped the Nagpur-Bhusawal passenger a few metres before a `welding failure' between Butibori and Borkhedi stations of the Central Railway.

``Villagers noticed a welding failure and promptly showed a red cloth to draw the attention of the engine crew. The train was stopped just before the fracture'', a spokesman of the Nagpur Division of the Central Railway told PTI here. A team of engineering personnel, including the permanent way inspector of the section reached the spot and restored traffic.
