Shilpa Shetty's father interrogated
Surat
June 14.
Surendra Shetty, father of actress Shilpa Shetty, facing charge of extorting money from a saree manufacturer to settle modelling dues of his daughter, was today interrogated by the Umra police for about three hours.
Interrogation was not conclusive and would continue next week, police said but refused to divulge the details of what had transpired during the probe.
However, Surendra will not be questioned on June 16 as the senior inspector, B. V. Ramani, would be busy attending a court in a matter concerning bail of Shilpa Shetty's mother, Sunanda, police said.
The police have already interrogated Shetty family's driver Dilip Palsekar, who has been in service with them since last two years.
Police registered a case against Shilpa's parents and underworld don Fazlu Rehman for allegedly extorting money from owner of Praful Sarees, Pankaj Agarwal. They alleged that Shilpa's parents had "hired" a gangster to recover Rs. 80 lakh payable to the actress by Agarwal for acting in an advertising film. — PTI
