B. Sudheer, principal secretary, Higher Education, officially released the results, while the Vice-Chancellor, P. Murali, read out the significant statistics to newspersons. Hyderabadis topped the list by wresting as many as seven of the top ten ranks, while two (2nd and 8th) ranks went to Visakhapatnam. The lone ranker from the southern half of the State hailed from Nellore, who bagged the ninth rank. Also, only one girl candidate could secure a place in the list, though the percentage of girls qualified exceeded that of boys. An interesting pattern observed in the results was that nine of the top ten candidates were B. Tech graduates, while one had a BCA degree. Of the 62,728 candidates registered, 59,685 appeared, of whom 56,699 got qualified, which accounted for 95 per cent. While 96.24 girls qualified, boys lagged behind with 94.47. The number of SC candidates qualified was 4,746 while the same for STs was 535. The top ten rankers are Gogineni Chaitanya (H.T. No.2039413) - 190 marks, Movva Harikrishna (1211126) - 183, Sathyesh Rajeev (2045155) - 179, J.S. Ramakrishna (2003204) - 178, Shashanka Boyapati (2008283) - 178, Prononjit Basu (2037392) - 178, Rishikesh Raj Singh (2036496) - 177, Duvvuri Rohini (1206382) - 176, Thanneru Phanikumar (1605174) 175, Pramod Bhattiprolu (2044299) - 175.
