Anti-outsourcing outcry in U. S. normal — Infosys Chief

BANGALORE JUNE 14. Terming the recent anti-outsourcing outcry in the U.S. as normal, Infosys Chairman and Chief Mentor, N. R. Narayana Murthy said the Indian IT industry should not get agitated or worried over the spate of anti-outsourcing measures there, but should bring the Indian point of view to them.

``My view is these are normal issues. We should not get agitated or worried. We should bring out our point of view and explain on the advantages,'' Mr. Murthy told reporters here on the sidelines of the 22nd annual general meeting of the company. He said concerns would be raised in any country about job losses in the present uncertain economic conditions.

Expressing confidence in the U.S. leadership to solve the present imbroglio, Mr. Narayana Murthy said the American leadership, which believed in free market, would ensure that it followed the principles of globalisation and free trade.

Dismissing reports that he might step down from office to take up a diplomatic assignment, Infosys Chairman and Chief Mentor, Mr. Murthy, said he would continue to be at the helm of affairs till he is 60 in August 2006. — PTI
