Electronic trading-enabled tea auction system

KOLKATA JUNE 14. All the tea auction centres would have electronic trading system in place by December this year, Additional Secretary to the Union Commerce Ministry, L. V. Saptarishi, said today.

"The Tea Board is now examining the type of information technology-enabled service to be implemented and the ways of linking the centres so that bidding on the screens could be made possible," Mr. Saptarishi said while talking to reporters on the sidelines of the 39th AGM of the Tea Association of India here. He said the Government would bear major part of the cost. — UNI
