'Talks on with Mamata'

By Our New Delhi Bureau

NEW DELHI MAY 24 . The Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, tonight said he would soon carry out a `minor' reshuffle in the Union Cabinet and hinted at the possible re-induction of the Trinamool Congress leader, Mamata Banerjee.

Interacting with presspersons soon after the swearing-in ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, he said the MDMK would also get representation in the Ministry.

Responding to questions on Ms. Banerjee, the Prime Minister said, "talks are under way with Ms. Banerjee". He also said he was informed that she had been told of the move to induct Sudip Bandyopadhyay. He said the BJP president, M. Venkaiah Naidu, had held talks with her.

The charge about attempts to split the Trinamool Congress was not correct, Mr. Vajpayee said adding that "there is no intention of breaking the party. On the contrary, we want to give more representation to it".
