Rubin wins Madrid Open

MADRID May 24. Top seed Chanda Rubin claimed her first WTA tour title of the season with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 victory over Maria Sanchez Lorenzo of Spain in the $ 170,000 Madrid Open claycourt tennis tournament today.

The results (final): Chanda Rubin bt Maria Antonia Sanchez Lorenzo 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.

Semifinals: Chanda Rubin bt Iroda Tulyaganova 6-4, 6-0; Maria Antonia Sanchez Lorenzo bt Barbara Schett 6-1, 6-3.
