During the session, which had 37 sittings of the two Houses, the Union and Railway budgets were passed. The session, which started on February 17 with the President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam's address to members of both the Houses, also passed two Constitutional amendments. However, the controversial Constitutional amendment seeking 33 per cent reservations for women, could not be passed due to lack of consensus.
