Scanny shocks Ravi

Chennai May 8. M. David Scanny of Tirunelveli scored an upset win over IM T.S. Ravi of Indian Bank in the fourth round of the 51st State chess championship at Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering, Pollachi, on Thursday.

A lapse in a Nimzo Indian Defence opening by Ravi gave Scanny the opportunity to create a massive pawn centre. Scanny smelt the positional superiority by a pawn breakthrough.
