Ban cow slaughter

Sir, — The peacock is considered the national bird and due protection is given to it. Likewise, animals such as elephants, lions, tigers and deer are also protected. Unfortunately, the cow is slaughtered. A unanimous decision by the ruling and Opposition parties to ban cow slaughter is needed. Congressmen, deemed to be followers of Mahatma Gandhi, should extend total support. Industries and business houses should be given Income Tax exemption for starting `goshalas'.
