TRS targets YSR again

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD April 25. Continuing its criticism of the praja prasthanam launched by the CLP leader, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti said the CLP leader's yatra was aimed at hoodwinking people of the region who were deserting the Congress and supporting the TRS.

``Dr. Reddy launched the yatra to safeguard his position in the party and ensure its survival in the Telangana region. One is not sure whether he will cover the entire distance or drop mid-way,'' the TRS public representatives forum chairman, A. Narendra, said.

Addressing a press conference on Friday on the eve of some TDP and Congress activists from Warangal district joining the party, the TRS leader took objection to Dr. Reddy's reported remarks that Mr Narendra did not resign from the BJP despite joining the TRS. "I am prepared to resign as Member of Parliament from Medak and challenge Dr. Reddy to come and contest against me from the constituency where people will teach him a fitting lesson,'' he said.

He said that unable to digest the growing support to the TRS from people, the Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, and the CLP leader "colluded'' and took up the Jala Chaitanyam and Praja Prasthanam respectively to hoodwink people and prevent them from joining the TRS. However, their strategy did not yield any result as people were aware of the commitment of the TRS for a separate Telangana state. "The CLP leader should at least now understand the Telangana wave sweeping all over the State and stop criticising the TRS,'' he said.
