Rupee weakens on month-end pressures
MUMBAI
APRIL 25.
The rupee weakened against the U.S. currency today due to the usual month-end pressures, but ended off intraday low owing to healthy trading and corporate dollar inflows in moderately active two-way trading at the interbank foreign exchange market.
Closing at 47.35/36 a dollar, the rupee lost nearly two paise from Thursday's finish of 47.3350/3450 after dipping to intraday low of 47.36/37. It opened on a steady note at 47.3350/3450.
Dollar demand from corporates and importers for the usual month-end considerations exerted fresh pressure on the rupee.
