Woman pulled out of train, gang-raped

By K. Balchand

Patna April 25. Six criminals gang-raped a train passenger in front of her husband in Kharpokhra village under the Bagha police station of West Champaran district last night.

The couple on their way to Muzaffarpur from Surat were dragged out of the Gorakhpur-Sonepur passenger train, running seven hours behind schedule, between Bagha and the Harinagar stations.

The criminals, travelling in the same compartment, took the couple to a nearby forest, gagged and tied the husband to a tree and then gang-raped his wife. The husband was also throttled when he sought to resist the barbaric act.

The Range DIG, C.R. Caswan, said medical examination had confirmed the rape and the couple were undergoing treatment. The Railway Police were being contacted for assistance in nabbing the criminals.
