Army chief on goodwill visit to Nepal

Kathmandu April 22. The Chief of Army Staff, N. C. Vij, arrived here today on a four-day goodwill visit at the invitation of his Nepalese counterpart, Pyar Jung Thapa.

Gen. Vij, on his first visit to the Himalayan Kingdom, was received at the airport by Gen. Thapa and senior Army officials.

An official described the visit as regular and said it was aimed at furthering cooperation between the armies. Gen. Vij is scheduled to meet the Prime Minister, Lokendra Bahadur Chand and King Gyanendra, besides senior Army officials.

He will be conferred the title of Honorary General of the Royal Nepalese Army.
