SARS patient weds, guests quarantined

Pune April 21. Julia D'Silva, one of the three Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) patients in Pune, today got married in a local church and was then admitted to the isolation ward of a private hospital here.

The wedding took place in the presence of two doctors and about 30 relatives and friends. In a brief ceremony Ms. D'Silva and Shailesh Suryavanshi, the Tehsildar of Guhaghar, exchanged marital vows and rings. The bride was then rushed in an ambulance to the Siddhartha Hospital, where she is under isolation and will be observed for five days. Doctors said all those who had attended the marriage had been asked to stay in one room at the residence of a relative where they would be observed. — PTI, UNI
