The three Avtar Singh of Kapurthala, Balbir Singh and Jagvinder Singh of Hoshiarpur left their houses for Lebanon seeking greener pastures five years ago. The trio, who accompanied Sikh pilgrims from the Gurdwara Dera Sahib from Lahore in an apparent bid to cross over to India to reunite with their family, could not succeed in the absence of a valid passport. They told PTI that they were taken for a ride by an unscrupulous travel agent. The three worked as labourers in Lebanon for three years before being arrested for their illegal stay there.
