Pak. reiterates stand on Iraq

By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD APRIL 20. Pakistan has again made it known that it would be happy to join the `reconstruction' effort in Iraq under the U.N. auspices.

Immediately after the U.K.-U.S. forces captured Baghdad on April 8, Islamabad had declared that it would like the U.N. to play a `central role' in defining the political and economic future of post-Saddam Hussein Iraq.

Throughout the Iraq crisis, Pakistan adopted a posture different from that of Washington and has signalled that it would continue to stick to it.
