Pak. claims credit for its `mature foreign policy'

By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD APRIL 19. Pakistan claims that its ``mature foreign policy'' has led to a ``softening'' up of the Indian position on a composite dialogue on all outstanding issues, offered by Pakistan on a number occasions.

A statement by the Pakistan Foreign Office said this was stated today in Riyadh by the Foreign Minister, Khurshid Mehmud Kasuri, at a community meeting comprising overseas Pakistanis. The Foreign Secretary, Riaz H. Khokhar, was present on the occasion.

The Minister was obviously referring to the latest peace offer made by the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, in Srinagar. Mr. Kasuri told the gathering that the ``mature foreign policy'' had elevated Pakistan's position in its relations with the world community and its principled stand on various international issues including Kashmir was being internationally acclaimed.
