16 killed in ferry disaster

Dhaka April 13. The toll in the Kishoreganj ferry disaster in Bangladesh stood at 16 today with the recovery of 13 bodies. About 100 persons were still missing.

The two-storied m.v. Sharifpur, packed with about 200 people, capsized in the Nakchinee river on Saturday night after getting caught in a storm. Several persons swam ashore or were rescued by fishermen. Many were believed to be still trapped in the vessel, which is yet to be recovered.
