With these, the number of temples covered would go up to 162. Among the temples where the scheme would be launched next week are the Agastheeswarar and Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal temple at Nungambakkam (Chennai district), the Suriyanar Koil at Thiruvidaimaruthur (Thanjavur), the Vaitheeswaran temple, Vaitheeswaran Koil (Nagapattinam), the Nagaraja temple at Nagercoil (Kanyakumari), the Selleeswarar temple at Andhiyur (Erode) and the Kasiviswanathaswamy temple-Sukavaneswarar temple (Salem). In all the 18 temples, the Sunday spiritual classes would also be conducted. The Chief Minister also said the Government had issued orders permitting the Special Commissioner of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department to transfer a surplus money of Rs. 20 crores from the corpus of eight temples to the Annadhanam fund.
